Old portman trail - Pacific

a couple of hours (depending on speed)

20ºC (July)

2.5 km (one way) in water, 3.5 km (one way) in land

This is a great option for a mixed group of adventurous swimmers and hikers. There are a number of options to do this in Baja and the experience can be fun for everyone. Our first attempt at this took place just south of Todos Santos along the coast of the Pacific Ocean.

The Old Port Trail is a 4.3 mile ‘out-and-back’ trek that leads you to the old port of Todos Santos. Rather than completely abandon our friends to hike alone we decided that it made the most sense for Frank to swim solo and meet us at the port where the trail ends and then to all walk back together. For both hikers and swimmer the trip to the port took about 1 hour and 45 minutes, and that’s about where the similarities end. Read more about each version below.
